Rave Reviews for MacAdo!

I'm an 87 year old UM alumna who has lived a lifetime surrounded by family that always loved Gilbert & Sullivan (I have my father's D'Oyly Carte collection on vinyl in my basement). That said, you may assume - correctly - that I'm a bit of a purist. So although I totally get why The Mikado could no longer be performed unaltered I was dubious about the success of any kind of rewrite.
I bought a ticket for Sunday afternoon but ended up in bed with the flu all weekend so I watched the stream on my laptop. And I was blown away! The adaptation was so incredibly and cleverly well done that I had to follow it with my libretto to identify the changes. The cast was outstanding and truly seemed to be enjoying themselves tremendously which is essential in G&S. I was wishing so much that I could have been there in person so my applause could be heard by everyone responsible for this undertaking. I hope The McAdo will become a permanent part of the repertory - the story and the songs are part of our vocabulary, after all - and I'm so happy they won't be disappearing (especially these days when I think all of us "...have a little list").
Congratulations to all!!

I wanted to congratulate you on a fantastic weekend of "The MacAdo". I attended Friday's performance and I can't overstate how much I enjoyed it. The talented actors were engaging from the first moment, and they were truly a pleasure to watch. Incredible singing, fantastic scenery/costumes, and of course the orchestra knocked it out of the park. I wish I could have come to multiple performances because there was so much to take in. This was my first time attending one of your performances, and it won't be my last.
